Meet Visit Jax Insider: Elly Itriago
Hi, I’m Elly, a finance professional, food blogger and mom to two kiddos and a pup. I was born in the Dominican Republic and raised in the Bronx, NYC.
Hi, I’m Elle! I am an educator, a travel blogger, and a mom to three little ones. My blog, 5 Suitcases, features some of our favorite places in Jacksonville, as well as destinations around the world.
My wife and I enjoy taking our kids on “adventures” (as they call them) to give them a broad view of the world. We spend a lot of time at the beach, local parks, historical sites, and museums. I also enjoy paddle boarding and checking out Jacksonville’s food scene.
What I love most about Jacksonville is that it is constantly evolving. I have lived in Jacksonville for nearly 30 years now and it has grown so much over the last few decades. What’s not to love about Jax? We have great beaches, plenty of waterways for kayaking and paddle boarding, and there’s always something to do around town.
Jacksonville boasts the largest urban park system in the nation making it the perfect destination for those who love spending time outdoors. You can never go wrong scoping out the sites of the Timucuan Preserve! There are so many great things to do around town but some of my favorite spots include the Jacksonville Zoo, the Jacksonville Arboretum and Gardens, Catty Shack Ranch, Boneyard Beach, Huguenot Memorial Park, Kingsley Plantation, and Fort Caroline.
Jacksonville has definitely made its mark in the food scene and I am loving every bit of it! There are so many delicious restaurants popping up all over the city. Some of my favorites include Brick Restaurant and brunch at Hoptinger.
