Jacksonville is a city teeming with life, music, and culture, so it’s no surprise this extraordinary area has some amazing local art galleries. Whether you’re walking Downtown, just getting off your flight at Jacksonville International Airport, or cruising through one of our historic neighborhoods, there is bound to be an art gallery waiting for you around the corner. Here are some of the best local galleries in Jacksonville.
The Art Center Cooperative: If you’re looking for unique art curated by a diverse group of artists, The Art Center Cooperative in San Marco is your place. The art in this gallery is rotated every two months, so there is always something fun and new to enjoy. The artwork displayed includes different dimensions and mediums, including original oil, acrylic, watercolor paintings, mixed media collages, figure sketches, pastels, and fine art photography, as well as metal, wood, and clay sculptures. It’s open Monday through Saturday, noon to 5 pm. The Art Center Cooperative has a second location in the Union Building Downtown.
Stellers Gallery: One of the longest operating, privately owned galleries in Northeast Florida, Stellers Gallery is a full-service art gallery providing art consultation, framing, and installation for residential, corporate, and healthcare facilities. Founded by Scott Riley in 1985, the gallery is located in Historic San Marco Square and features work from several different local and international artists with styles ranging from conservative and traditional, to expressionist, abstract and whimsical. Stellers Gallery is open Monday through Friday, 11 am from 5 pm and Saturday, 11 am to 3 pm.
Gallery725: If you ever find yourself in Jacksonville Beach, then you must check out Gallery725. This gallery specializes in artist reproductions, photographic restorations, fine art, and large format and alternative printing. Gallery725 exhibits artwork with a wide range of concepts, styles, media, and a diversity of artists (gender, race, perspectives) whose work inspires and challenges the community to see the world from a different perspective. The gallery is open Tuesday through Friday, 11 am to 6 pm, and Saturday, 11 am to 4 pm
Southlight Gallery: Located in the Wells Fargo building in Downtown Jacksonville, Southlight Gallery provides a community-involved art space where local artists show and sell their works with limited gallery fees. Visitors will see many different styles and mediums at Southlight, including realism, abstract, impressionism, and multi-dimensional. Southlight Gallery is open Tuesday through Friday, 11 am to 3 pm.
Studio Zsa Zsa Lapree: Named Jax Best Art Gallery for 2022, Studio Zsa Zsa Lapree is a unique spot that showcases up-and-coming artists and specializes in Black art of all mediums. Located in Downtown on North Main Street, owner Giandra Shepard strives to create a space for Black artist to display and sell their art. Public Art: Jacksonville has a vast amount of public art for locals and visitors alike to enjoy. From Downtown to the Beaches, you can murals, sculptures and statues on every corner. You can even find art under the Main Street Bridge. “Mirrored River: Where Do You See Yourself?” stretches 64 feet in mirror, ceramic tile, glass tile, and pebbles, forming a satellite image of the St. Johns River, one Jacksonville’s greatest assets. The Corner Gallery: Downtown Jacksonville has a fantastic art scene, and The Corner Gallery is one of the reasons why. Located in the Jessie Ball duPont Center, it’s a cultural, educational experience that showcases local artists in a residence-style exhibit throughout the year. Curated by Shawana Brooks, the space supports art, advocacy, and local BIPOC creatives and was designed to spark conversation and innovation. The Corner Gallery is open Monday through Friday, 9:30 am to 5 pm.
The Lark: If you’re looking for a stunning venue in the heart of Downtown Jacksonville, then look no further than The Lark. Restored in the 1920s, this venue overlooks James Weldon Johnson Park and proudly supports the Jacksonville art community by showcasing local work. Art is rotated quarterly and is all for sale with 100% of the proceeds going directly to the artists. The Lark is open Monday through Friday, 10 am to 6 pm.
The Creative Exchange: Also known as CX904, The Creative Exchange is one of a kind. This beautiful sunlit space located on the first floor of the Bank of America Tower in Downtown Jacksonville boasts an array of locally crafted products ranging from paintings and sculptures to jewelry and books. Everything in the space is available for purchase to support the community and the creator alike. The Creative Exchange is open Monday-Friday from 10 am-4 pm.
Mussallem Galleries: Jacksonville has a few hidden secrets, and Mussallem Galleries is one with a fantastic story to tell. The gallery started as an Oriental rug business in the late 1800s and has since expanded into an eclectic art collection. The expansive 90,000 square-foot gallery showroom features a vast selection, including oil paintings, watercolor, and mixed media. There is also an extensive collection of Chinese, Japanese, Russian, Continental, and European objects of art, estate jewels and antique furnishings from around the world. Mussallem Galleries is open Monday through Saturday, 10 am to 6 pm.
JAX Airport Arts: Art is reflective of a city's culture and pride. That's why when you walk through Jacksonville International Airport, you’ll find a unique array of art installations and galleries. Jacksonville Aviation Authority’s Arts & Culture Program is committed to delivering rotating art exhibits to provide a positive distraction and inspire and educate visitors with art from professional and emerging local artists. Florida Mining Gallery: Florida Mining is a museum-style contemporary art gallery specializing in Southern narrative painters, sculptors, printmakers, and photographers with a mission to tell the story of Southern art in an engaging, education way. The gallery is owned by longtime artist and gallerist Steve Williams. Florida Mining Gallery is located in Riverside and open Monday through Friday, 9 am to 4:30 pm.
Holly Blanton Studio Gallery: Located in Atlantic Beach, Holly Blanton Studio Gallery features the work of artist Holly Blanton, who is an inspiring American artist. Holly's artwork is created by layering paint to create texture across a canvas that transforms into ethereal, soft, and serene abstract paintings. The Vault 1930: If you ‘re looking for an array of art spanning from contemporary, abstract, impressionist, and multi-dimensional, The Vault 1930 is the gallery for you. There you’ll find two and three-dimensional art from established and emerging local, regional, and national artists. Located in San Marco, The Vault 1930 is open 11 am to 4 pm Tuesday through Friday and 11 am to 5 pm on Saturday.
Anazao Galleries: Featuring over 500 pieces of artwork, Anazao Galleries is historic Avondale's latest fine art and jewelry gallery featuring a collection of original framed oil paintings, handmade jewelry and scarves, sculpture, and home decor from around the world. Anazao Galleries is open Saturday 10 am to 5 pm by appointment only.
