Cool Down This Summer with These Sweet Treats in Jacksonville
Summertime is here in Jax and The Melanin Market team suggests three sweet treats to stay cool in the Sunshine State. We are lucky to have an extensive network of Black-owned businesses in Jacksonville that provide stellar service. Next time you’re in our city, don’t forget to check out these local favorites.
Springfield Scoops
If you look to beat the heat while enjoying your treat, then head over to historic Springfield. Located on Main Street, you will find the cutest ice cream shop, Springfield Scoops, another adorned affiliate of the Melanin Market. Dine in and enjoy some creamy desserts like sundaes, banana splits, or waffle cones. Their flavor choices are delicious and addictive with all the toppings you can think of.
Our mission at the Melanin Market is to serve as a cultural destination and marketplace. We highlight black-owned businesses, like the ones mentioned above, while providing creative place-making outlets for community fellowship. We are grateful to call Jacksonville “home,” as it creates a great base to accomplish our mission. Jacksonville’s Historic Eastside is where we laid our roots in memory of the bustling economic hub for minority-owned businesses before the 1969 race riots. The Melanin Market team has pledged as community servants to regenerate Jacksonville’s historic minority district. We continue our efforts on June 17th in celebration of Juneteenth, be sure you’re there to meet these fantastic vendors!.
