EverBank Stadium Updates: The Jaguars Will Roar in Jacksonville for the Next 30 Years

It’s official: the Jacksonville Jaguars are going to be staying in Jacksonville for the next 30 years! The Jacksonville City Council has approved the stadium agreement with the Jaguars on June 25th, which will revamp the EverBank Stadium and keep the team playing in it for the next three decades with a non-relocation agreement.

Plans for the stadium include a shade cover that will protect seating areas from sunlight and rain, with also includes an open-air design that will help keep the stadium cool. A new elevated concourse will include observation decks of the city with expanded food offerings.

Capacity will be 62,000 seats for Jaguars games, and 71,500 seats for college football games and concerts. Renovation will also include more meeting and event space, as the team offices will be relocating to a space nearby. Additionally, meeting planners will have more options than ever to hold an event in the new stadium during the off season and will certainly be a place visitors and attendees will want first glimpses of when it reopens.

Construction will begin in 2025 but capacity will not be affected. In 2026, capacity will be reduced to accommodate construction and in 2027, the stadium will not be in use and the Jaguars will play in either Gainesville or Orlando. Projected reopening is 2028. Book those hotel rooms now!

The $1.4 billion stadium renovation has one last hurdle in October, when the NFL owners group will vote to approve. This package will not only include funding for the stadium renovation, but also $56 million in spending on nearby riverfront parks and the stadium’s flex field.

For a city that is mighty proud of their Jaguars, and the host to the extremely popular Florida Georgia game each year, this stadium announcement has excited both locals and visitors who know how needed a new stadium is.
