PARK ITINERARY: A Day in Stockton Park
This beautiful city park is in the Ortega neighborhood on Jacksonville’s Westside.
Perfectly located right on the St. Johns River next to historic mansions on Ortega Boulevard, this grand park features a canopy, picnic tables and benches. You can fish, relax and connect to nature here.
BREAKFAST: On your way to neighborhood you can stop at a few local spots to either dine in or pack a picnic. Grassroots Natural Market is in Riverside, Metro Diner is on Roosevelt, and Bagel Love, a great local bagel shop, is just a few miles from the park.
MORNING: At Stockton Park you can spend a morning fishing from its waterfront edge. Bring your gear or get some from nearby fishing supply stores like West Marine.
The park offers parking, benches, drinking fountains and picnic tables. But just a heads up, there are no restrooms there.
LUNCH: Venture over the Ortega bridge to Chomp Chomp, a local hole in the wall with delicious burgers, sandwiches and salads.
AFTERNOON: Make your way back to the park for a relaxing afternoon, read a book and try and spots dolphins in the river.
