Historic - The Van Zant House
This historic home is the childhood home of the Van Zant family, including Lynyrd Skynyrd founder Ronnie Van Zant. A plane crash in 1977 took Ronnie's life and several other members of the band. This house and historically marker will stand as well as a living tribute to the Van Zants. Inside this main house, you'll find some cool memorabilia, a vintage 1938 Brunswick pool table, and a retro 70's feel, to remind us all of the way things were, with a hint of nostalgia. The home is located on Jacksonville's Westside in a blue-collar neighborhood the Van Zant boys called Shantytown.
The historical marker includes Ronnie Van Zant's role in forming Lynyrd Skynyrd, Johnny Van Zant's role as lead singer in the reborn Skynyrd group and Donnie Van Zant's role as a founding member of .38 Special.
