When you arrive in Jacksonville, you’ll quickly discover the city is a vibrant, diverse destination that celebrates the uniqueness of its culture, businesses, and residents. This is a strong, resilient community strengthened by its unification and shared stance that there is no place for hate in Jacksonville.
The ultimate juxtaposition of South meets Sunshine, there’s no shortage of offerings available for our visitors to see and experience. We look forward to showing our hospitality and warmth to everyone visiting our special piece of Florida. Visit Jacksonville is proud of our rich, diverse history, and we celebrate its impact on shaping our destination.
From the native Timucuan Indians, French Huguenots and the Spanish of the region’s formative years to the achievements and experiences of African Americans, Hispanic Americans, LGBTQ+ residents and others, all have their place in Jacksonville’s history. These cultural groups have shaped the city into what it has become and infused their traditions into the daily lives of its residents over the years.
Today, Jacksonville continues to be a cornucopia of cultures. Jacksonville’s diverse population includes an African American demographic of 30.7%, 10.9% of Hispanic or Latino origin, and 4.9% of the population has Asian cultural heritage. We anticipate these numbers to grow, as Jacksonville has recently been named one of the biggest “Boomtowns” in the country, with a growing population of professionals seeking a warmer climate and a growing job market.
