IT & Innovation
Jacksonville's IT & Innovation industry encompasses many sectors from healthcare to software development, finance technology, logistics, and e-commerce. Major employers in the area include Black Knight Financial Services, CSX Technology, Availity, Fanatics, Newfold Digital, and many more.
Jacksonville is consistently ranked high for tech talent, including the fourth largest increase in tech workers on a per capita basis (LinkedIn) and a smart city to watch(StateTech Magazine).
The talent pool is growing faster than the U.S. average with 8,400+ IT graduates from the region’s colleges and universities each year. That, paired with the 7,500+ IT graduates from nearby University of Florida, adds a solid pipeline of a young skilled workforce for our tech companies.
Innovation is sweeping the region, particularly in Jacksonville’s riverfront downtown. The Jacksonville region is on track to be the nation’s first smart region with large investments and research in sensory data collection, next-generation technology, automated vehicles, and a designated innovation corridor. These accomplishments are gaining global recognition from companies setting up operations and testing technology.
Our coastal Network Access Point, the JAX NAP/SBA Edge, is ideally located between Atlanta and Miami. Providing a global digital expressway, the JAX NAP reduces costs, latency, and risk providing a unique asset for businesses with considerable IT needs.
The CIO Council, a forum of CIOs and senior technology leaders at area top companies, share best practices, align STEM education programs, and leverage relationships to enhance Northeast Florida’s broad IT and innovation business community and workforce.
